Q&A

do you need to wax this board?
Hello! Yes! You will need to wax the board before your first surf session! After that, a light waxing will go a long way! Happy shredding!
Hi! Looking for a good beginner board to use in Venice / Santa Monica mostly. I’m 5’ 9” and 130 lbs. Any specific boards you recommend?
Hello! You could totally go with the 6'0 Skipper but it might be a challenge to stand up on as a beginner. You might have better luck going with a 7'0 LOG or 8'0 LOG! The 7'0 is much easier to transport to and from the beach : ) Happy shredding! Go surf Topanga!
HI! I am a high/intermediate female "older' surfer. I've surfed for over 25 years and am in very good physical shape. I surf mostly a 7'6 or 8' boards. Not a shortboarder...Also, my weight is 143 and am 5'3 in height. My question is the following: should I get the 6' skipper board or the 6'6" skipper board? The guy in the shop talked me into the 6' and says they paddle like a foot longer. But I have doubts. What's your recommendation? Thanks.
Hello Maria - Happy to help! The question is what are you looking to get out of it? Do you want more maneuverability; lighter board for easy handling, etc... More of a shortboard style ride? Then 6-0. But if you want more maneuverability vs. your other longer boards but with easiest paddle and wave catching of the skipper line... Then 6-6. Based on your height, weight and experience; either will work great; but each will also offer a slightly different ride; 6-0 = lighter; more maneuverable but less float vs. 6-6. The 6-6 = more maneuverable vs. your other boards (7'6" or 8'); but with easier paddle and wave catching vs. the 6-0. It comes down to what you are looking to get out of it. More foam is never a bad thing; makes catching wave super easy; can catch it super early; which = more fun! Hope this helps! Thank you! - George @ Catch Surf
